This poster was made by Jamie Gemmell during a placement with The Alasdair Gray Archive as part of his MLitt in Creative Writing at the University of Strathclyde. Jamie explores how the rich interplay between nature, history and industry that defines the falls shaped Alasdair Gray’s imagination and inspired his monumental Falls of Clyde mural.
Ian McIlhenny was a Glasgow-based artist and educator, and fellow Glasgow School of Art graduate of Alasdair Gray. In this biography, Erin Love explored the connections between the two figures in both their personal loves and public contributions to Glasgow’s art scene.
Hugh MacDiarmid (Christopher Murray Grieve) – Scottish poet, journalist, essayist, and political figure – is considered one of the principal forces behind the Scottish Renaissance. In this biography, Jack Anderson explores the relationship between MacDiarmid and Alasdair Gray as well as their influence on each other’s work.
Dr Joe Murray is a writer in English and Scots. As a typesetter and designer, he worked with Alasdair Gray for 20 years, producing many of his books. In this biography, Kirsten Blackburn draws on a new interview with Murray to chronicle his life and working relationship with Alasdair Gray.
